Have you ever look at the picture of the Tower of Pisa? If you have, I think you probably felt that it is about to fall, but it still stands on the ground like a magic. Some people think it is in Rome, but it is located in the city of Pisa, Italy. It is considered one of the wonderful structures that stands out with its unique and strange appearance. Pisa got its name in 600 BC from a Greek word meaning «marshy land.» The tower is known as ‘Torre Pendente di Pisa’ in Italian language. It is famous because the tower is not straight but leaning from the south and still standing. It took 199 years to complete it (1171-1373). It was delayed because of wars. If these wars had not stopped the work, the tower would certainly have fallen down because during this period the soil underneath the tower got time to squeeze and become hardened. Because Pisa was constructed on soft soil.
